Grind levels 1 - 5 provider a finer result perfect for espresso machines, while grind levels 6 - 26 produce the ground coffee that works well with a filter coffee machine. Grind levels 27-39 creates the coarse grounds that are perfect for cafetiere.
The Calibra Coffee Grinder has three adjustable grind modes:
Number of Cups - grinds the right quantity of coffee for one or more cups of coffee;
Weight - grinds coffee to the exact gramme if you know the quantity of coffee required;
Manual - regulates the amount of coffee ground over a particular time period.
Professional steel cone grinder
The heart of the Calibra® is a durable steel cone grinder. It grinds precisely and evenly.
Integrated digital scale for grinding accurately to the gramme
An innovative highlight of the Calibra® is the integrated digital scale. Thanks to this scale you can grind your coffee accurately to the gramme.
39 variable grind settings
You can individually adjust the grind setting according to how you make your coffee. There are 39 variable grind settings from coarse to fine. For the preparation of espresso, a finer grind setting (level 1-5) is recommended. If you love filter coffee, you can choose a grind setting in the middle range (level 6-26). For making coffee with a cafetière, we recommend a coarser grind setting (level 27-39).
Variable use
We have designed the Calibra® so that you can also grind directly into various coffee makers. Thanks to the built-in tare button with zero setting feature and the high ground coffee outlet, it is possible to grind directly and conveniently into a Melitta® 1x4® coffee filter. Alternatively, you can also grind directly into a porta filter.
Select from three individual grind programmes
The Calibra® offers three different grind programmes. For all those who like it easy, we recommend automatically grinding the right quantity for one or more cups of coffee (grind programme 'Number of cups'). If you know exactly how much coffee you need so that your coffee tastes best, you can select the grind programme that is accurate to the gramme ('Weight' grind programme). Alternatively, you can regulate the amount of coffee manually with the grinding time ('Manual' grind programme).
User-friendly operating panel with display
It goes without saying: The various grinding programmes and their settings are easy to select using the inclined control panel with LCD display.
Precise dispensing of ground coffee
The silicone ring on the ground coffee outlet ensures the ground coffee is dispensed in a controlled manner. This guarantees that the ground coffee ends up safely in the collection container.
Removable bean container
You can fill the bean container with up to 375 g of coffee beans. It is easy to remove for cleaning.
Removable coffee container
The coffee collection container has a capacity of up to 200 g and is removable.
Easy to clean
The coffee bean and ground coffee collection containers as well as the grinder ring can be removed for cleaning. The supplied cleaning brush makes cleaning easier.
Last settings are saved
You know what you want, and you usually need it fast? Calibra® saves your last settings, even after unplugging the power cable.
Modern design with many stainless steel elements
An appliance that can do so much should also look good. The Calibra® is a real eye-catcher thanks to its modern design and many high-quality stainless steel elements.

An easy grind
If Italians are discerning about one thing, it’s flavour. They understand there is no point buying your favourite coffee beans, or blend of beans, if you can’t then grind and infuse them to your own particular taste. With the Calibra, Italian coffee brand Melitta have produced a quality grinder that - with 39 settings - ensures you can fine tune your favourite coffee, to your own idea of perfection, on your worktop.
The Calibra looks functional, rather than overly styled, which I prefer in a kitchen; the 375g-capacity bean container is clear, so you can monitor your coffee stocks, and detaches simply for ease of cleaning, as does the lower container, which takes up to 200g of grounds. It also grinds directly into a filter, so not a single ground is wasted. At 374mm x120mm x 227mm it was small enough to share surface space with all my other coffee paraphernalia, as a permanent fixture. The conical grinder itself is of stainless steel and sounds of reassuring quality, I imagine this will cope with our daily habit without complaint!
The LED control panel is clear, with three ways to programme your grinding: by weight, by no. of cups, or manually. I’m pretty forgetful, particularly before my morning caffeine fix, so I found it incredibly handy that it could save my previous setting, meaning I could repeat the programme, or change the grind, and/or weight, to better suit my/my husband’s taste. This I find is far better than a pre-set integrated coffee machine, which presumes (and always underestimates) how I like my coffee! The integral digital scale takes out that guess work, although fine-tuning your choice of grind takes a little trial and error, with a scale of 39 (1-5 for fine, 6-26 for filter coffee, 27-39 the most coarse end of the scale, for cafétières), but for us coffee making is a ritual, and rotating the dial and tapping in our preferred measures, then comparing results, was just another - pleasurable - part of the process.
